This Privacy Policy explains how whyshoot? (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use our website and services (the “Platform”). We act as the data fiduciary for the personal data described here and handle it in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and other applicable law. By using the Platform you acknowledge this Policy.
We collect only what we need:
We process personal data to: respond to your enquiries; provide, produce, and deliver the services; operate the model marketplace and, where applicable, arrange payment to models; keep the Platform secure and prevent misuse; and comply with law. We process data on the basis of your consent (which you give when you submit a form or apply) and to perform our services to you. We do not sell your personal data.
Model onboarding may involve photographs, likeness/consent records, and — only if you choose to add them — identity and payout details. We treat this information with heightened care, use it solely to run the marketplace and pay models, restrict access to authorised staff, and never publish identity or payout details. Model likeness is used only within the categories a model has consented to, as described on our Licensing & consent page. A model may withdraw consent for future use at any time by contacting us.
We share personal data only with trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform, and only as needed to provide the service — namely our categories of processors: secure cloud hosting and database, email delivery, image-generation and media processing, and (where applicable) payment providers. These providers are bound to protect your data and use it only on our instructions. We also disclose data where required by law or to protect our rights. We do not share your data for third-party advertising.
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law — for example, to service an ongoing engagement, maintain your account, or meet tax and record-keeping obligations — after which we delete or anonymise it. Model consent and identity records are retained for the period necessary to evidence lawful use of the likeness.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, encryption in transit, hashed credentials, and restricted database permissions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify affected users and authorities of a significant breach as required by law.
Subject to the DPDP Act, you may request to: access a summary of your personal data; correct or update it; erase it; withdraw consent (including model likeness consent for future use); and nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of incapacity or death. To exercise any right, email us at hello@whyshoot.in. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
We use minimal cookies and browser local storage for essential site function only — for example, keeping you signed in, remembering whether you’re browsing as a brand or a model, and saving your progress. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block storage in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Policy as the Platform evolves. We will revise the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
